Wapsie Valley presents “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”
The Wapsie Valley JH/HS vocal students will present “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” on Saturday and Sunday, November 16 and 17.
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a musical that is the tale of six quirky adolescents vying for a spelling championship, overseen by equally colorful adults. The show centers on a fictional spelling bee set in Putnam Valley Middle School. It is a hilarious tale chronicling the spelling championship of a lifetime. The spelling bee is the one place where this cast of outsiders can stand out and fit in at the same time. They learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser.
Wapsie Valley’s production is directed by Sarah Bieber and Alicia Brown-Riggs and features Tessa Tibbott as Rona Lisa Peretti, Jacob Watts as Vice Principal Douglas Panch, and Emily Erhardt as Midge Mahoney. The contenders feature Cassidy Brunscheon as Olive Ostrovsky, Grant Grober as William Barfée, Evie Roberts as Logainne SchwartzandGrubenierre, Sidney Schnor as Marcy Park, Jacob Risse as Leaf Coneybear, and Blake Buhr as Charlito "Chip" Tolentino. They are joined by a number of talented WV vocal performers.
The musical will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, and on Sunday, November 17, there will be a matinee performance at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $5.00 each and advance ticket reservations are available at the JH/HS office or by calling the school at 319-638-6711.
