Wapsie Valley Jr. / Sr. High Facilities Project

On November 21, 2011, the Wapsie Valley School Board contracted with Struxture Architects to provide a facilities assessment at the Wapsie Valley Jr./Sr. High School.  It was a relationship with the building that had come full circle: it was Struxture Architects, known as Toenjes and Stenson Architects in the 1950s, who designed the building during the early years of the Wapsie Valley School District.  In March, the Board was presented with a report, drafted by members of the Struxture Architects team, with contributions from Tekippe Engineering and Modus Engineers.  At that time, members of the Board, administrative, and maintenance teams reviewed the information provided and began to prioritize the observations, recommendations, and cost estimates provided in the report.  With that information in hand, the Board and I have developed a list of renovation and maintenance projects to be implemented at the jr./sr. high school.  We believe that these projects will help to secure this building, opened in 1959, for the foreseeable future.  That security, though, comes at a cost, and we'd like to share with you information about what we are proposing, the impact it may have on you as a district stakeholder, and how you can learn more about the project.   On this page, you'll find a description of the projects we are proposing, frequently asked questions, and a schedule of community meetings where I'll be discussing the project.  If you have any questions about the project, or would like me to visit with you or your organization about how this might impact you as a stakeholder, please don't hesitate to call me at home (319-635-2091), on my cell phone (562-880-3920), or at the office (319-638-6711).
