Wapsie Valley Schools is one of only two schools in the state to partner with local Amish families in our Rural Schools #1, #2, #3, and #4. These schools are staffed by Wapsie Valley teachers and associates, and provide instruction to students in grades K-8. These single-room schoolhouses greet students every day, maintaining the same calendar and instructional goals as do the other buildings in the district. The staff members in our rural schools work hard to blend their instructional objectives with the needs of our families, and have formed a very unique relationship. Similarly, the families who attend our rural schools place great value in the education of their children, and provide support for teaching and learning that is outstanding. Our rural schools are one of the many exciting parts of our district, and demonstrate one of the greatest teacher-family relationships in the state.
If you have questions about our rural schools, we ask that you do not simply stop at any of our buildings un-announced. Please call Jolaine Mast, principal, and she’ll be happy to answer any questions you might have.
