Wapsie Valley Jr./Sr. High School
Home of the Warriors!
“Preparing today’s youth for tomorrow’s challenges.”
A Message from Principal, Josh Johnson
The 2012-2013 school year is off to a great start and we are proud to continue the traditions of Wapsie Valley into this school year and beyond. It is sure to be a year that all faculty and staff, students and WV families will continue to unite promoting Warrior pride in our students, schools and communities.
Together we will strive to raise the standards, increase educational rigor and accountability to learning; while building positive relationships along the way. If we can provide top-notch instruction, we can continue to create strong teacher, student, parent and community relationships. By instilling in students the ability to think, to learn, and to achieve we can prepare them for tomorrow challenges.
Here at Wapsie Valley Jr./Sr. High School, we believe excellence can be achieved by all students and staff. Wapsie Valley Jr./Sr. High School is proud to be pursuing programs such as RTI (Response to Intervention) and PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support). These programs ensure that all students, staff and families are provided with the best opportunities to learn in a safe educational environment. Students and staff at Wapsie Valley Jr./Sr. High School are held to a higher standard in making choices, according to:
| The Warrior Way |
| Respect | Responsibility | Safety | Learn | |
Our staff has dedicated themselves to continuous learning through professional development with PLCs (Professional Learning Communities), and the use of school achievement data to discover the most effective ways to teach our students. You can visit the Guaranteed to Learn link on our district home webpage for more information. We have high expectations for our students and staff through trust, hard work, and positive reinforcement of our collective strengths.
We strongly believe that parent and community partnerships are an essential piece to the success of a small rural school such as ours. At Wapsie Valley we are privileged to have parent volunteers involved with enriching the experiences of our students. Our Wapsie Valley Education Foundation (WVEF) is a tremendous support and contributes significantly by providing valuable funding for classroom support and community school relationships.
Wapsie Valley has a tradition of excellent co-curricular programs. It is our hope that all students get involved in our school through athletics, music, theater, academic competitions, school newspaper, yearbook, activities, and clubs. What makes this school great is the plethora of opportunities available to our students. Working together we can ensure that the students of Wapsie Valley continue to achieve their highest potential in the classroom, gym, theater, and on the field. Community help and support are greatly appreciated during the school year as we work to maintain and build our many programs with help from the Wapsie Valley Athletic Boosters and Wapsie Valley Performing Arts Boosters.
Warrior pride is strong at Wapsie Valley, and we look to uphold that tradition during the 2012-2013 school year.
Sincerely,
Josh Johnson,
Wapsie Valley Jr./Sr. High School Principal
