Dear Wapsie Valley Parents and Community Members,

Our school district is currently embarking on an important journey: selecting a new 7-12 Secondary Principal. As we look for a leader who will champion our students' academic growth and foster a positive school culture, we believe it is essential to have the voices of our families and community members at the table.

We are seeking representative volunteers to serve on our formal interview committee. This is a vital opportunity to provide feedback on candidates and ensure our next principal aligns with the values and goals of the Wapsie Valley community.

Commitment Details

To ensure a fair and consistent evaluation of all candidates, committee members must be available for the full duration of the interview window.

  • Date: April 24, 2026
  • Time: 10:00 AM (arrive 20 minutes prior)
  • Location: Wapsie Valley CSD-2535 Viking Ave, Fairbank, IA 50629 – Board Room

Role Expectations

As a community representative, you will:

  • Participate in a brief orientation regarding the interview process and confidentiality.
  • Observe candidate presentations and participate in Q&A sessions.
  • Provide written and verbal feedback to the administration and Board of Education.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all candidates and internal discussions.

Please respond to karndt@wapsievalleyschools.org by Tuesday April 21, 2026, 12:00 to be considered for the committee.

Note: Depending on the level of interest, we may not be able to include everyone who applies. We aim to create a committee that reflects a diverse range of perspectives across our 7-12 grade levels and community interests.

Thank you for your ongoing support of Wapsie Valley schools and for helping us shape the future of our secondary programs.

Sincerely,

Kim Arndt – karndt@wapsievalleyschools.org

WAPSIE VALLEY COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Subject: Appointment of New Superintendent of Schools

Date: April 2, 2026

To: Wapsie Valley Students, Staff, Families, and Community Members

The Wapsie Valley Board of Education is proud to announce the appointment of Timothy (TJ) Murphy as the next Superintendent of the Wapsie Valley Community School District, effective July 1, 2026.

Following a thorough search process, the Board determined that Mr. Murphy’s proven leadership, deep-rooted connection to our community, and vision for educational excellence make him the ideal leader to guide our district into the future.

For the past six years, Mr. Murphy has served with distinction as our 7-12 Secondary Principal. During his tenure, he has been instrumental in fostering a positive school culture, improving academic outcomes, and building strong relationships with students and staff alike. His transition to superintendency ensures a seamless continuity of leadership and a steadfast commitment to the "Warrior Way."

Beyond his professional qualifications, TJ is a devoted member of the Wapsie Valley family. He and his wife, Beth, are proud residents of the district. As parents of three children who currently attend Wapsie Valley schools, the Murphy family is deeply invested in the success and well-being of our local youth and the community at large.

"It is a profound honor to be selected to lead a district that means so much to my family and me," said Mr. Murphy. "I look forward to collaborating with our talented educators and the entire community to ensure every student at Wapsie Valley has the tools and support they need to thrive."

Please join us in congratulating Mr. Murphy on his new role.
