Mr. Murphy & Family

Wapsie Valley Community School District
Announces New 7-12 Principal for 2020-2021 Academic School Year

Wapsie Valley Community School District is happy to announce that TJ Murphy has verbally accepted the position of the 7-12 principal. Mr. Murphy comes to us from the Benton CSD as a 7-12 science teacher and data team coach for the past fourteen years. He has coached several sports teams and is currently the head wrestling coach.

Mr. Murphy was raised in the Manchester area graduating from West Delaware High School, and his wife, Beth graduated from Jesup Community School District. Both graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. Mr. Murphy received his PK-12 Principalship Graduate Degree from the University of Northern Iowa. His family will accompany him to the Wapsie area this summer. Beth works for Aegon Asset Management and their three children, Bailey (age 10), Clare (age 8) and Ray (age 6) all enjoy the great outdoors, basketball, softball, volleyball, baking, painting, camping, hunting, fishing and of course, wrestling! As you can tell, this is one busy family.

We are thrilled that the Murphy family has chosen Wapsie Valley as their new home. Mr. Murphy has a contract that starts on July 1, 2020, but he will be in the district to be involved in transitional plans and any further district hiring needs. When you meet the Murphys in the future, please introduce yourself and give them a huge “Wapsie Welcome”. TJ was very impressed that we live by the motto, “We Are Family”, and he is excited to be a part of that family! We are excited about the Murphy family’s new journey in joining the Wapsie Valley Family!

Stay Warrior Strong and Safe!
